Mike Kingery - President
I have been involved
in the production of printing for the majority of
my life. Having started typesetting on a hot lead
Linotype machine and letterpress during my high
school years, I quickly acquired an appreciation
for offset press technology. I have worked on, and
with, both sheetfed and web presses my entire career.
Early in my career, I
was fascinated by the quality of print, precision
register, and predictability attained with Heidelberg
sheetfed press equipment. The equipment was, and
remains, the finest in the industry today. But with
turn-around times becoming more compact by the early
90s, I had a need for more speed.
The web press world
always fascinated me and over the last 20 years
the web press manufacturers have been on a journey
of quality improvement and paper waste reduction.
The web equipment we use today successfully overcomes
the challenges inherent with speed and will lay
a beautiful, well-defined dot on the
sheet of paper. Today's equipment is very predictable,
designed for quick makeready, and outfitted with
closed loop color control which ensures minimal
paper waste.
When it comes to web
vs. sheetfed today, I do not distinguish between
the technologies. Both produce exceptional quality.
The success of M&D Printing is rooted in our
ability to bring these technologies together efficiently,
under one roof. We have a battery of multi-color
web and sheetfed equipment available to meet our
clients needs. My first love was, and remains, the
craftsmanship and pride associated with ink on paper.
Beyond the equipment
acquisitions over the years, my career has included
building the team of professionals that surround
each job as it passes through our plant. These quality
people are M&D Printing. We are a highly charged
service organization built to bring maximum value
to our clients' printing, binding, mailing, fulfillment,
and shipping needs. The knowledge base, and creativity
within our staff at M&D Printing, positively
differentiates our organization.
I provide the vision
and leadership for M&D Printing today, and in
a small way I contribute to our daily success, but
the real credit goes to the staff as a whole. They
continue to distinguish themselves for quality,
service, and the value they add to the product we
bring to market.
The trade has always
been dynamic and exciting. My challenge is derived
from providing solutions, and my satisfaction from
a pleased customer.
